Remove all coatings, sealers, or paint overspray. Clean weathered or exterior wood with a quality deck wash to remove dirt, mildew, and other contaminants.

Follow the cleaner manufacturer's instructions - generally it’s spray on and rinse off. Thoroughly rinse and allow wood to dry completely. Sand all surfaces with 80-grit sandpaper and remove all dust by vacuuming or blowing clean. Wipe with acetone, and you are good to go.
